INSTRUCTIONS
- Use Instructions: Carefully inspect new heater for signs of damage. Pay close attention to heating element and glass casing around heating element. If damage is observed or suspected, DO NOT USE. Contact Zoo Med’s customer service department.HEATER INSTALLATION:With the heater unplugged, perform the following steps to install your new TURTLETHERM™ heater.1. Rinse new heater under running water before placing in your aquatic turtle habitat.2. Select the ideal location on the side or back wall of the habitat. Heater must be fully submerged in water. Check to make sure that the suction cups are securely attached to the wall of the habitat.3. If possible, place the heater near the filter outlet to improve circulation of heated water and to achieve even heating throughout the habitat.4. Allow heater to acclimate to the water temperature for 20 minutes before plugging in.HEATER OPERATION:1. After performing the installation steps above, plug the heater into an appropriate GFCI outlet.2. When plugging the heater in, the preset temperature of 78 degrees will flash briefly on the display. After a few seconds, flashing will stop and the actual water temperature will then be shown on the display.3. When heating, the red indicator light next to the words “ON/OFF” will illuminate. Shortly after reaching the preset temperature of 78 degrees, the heating element will automatically turn off and the indicator light will go out. Heating will resume and the indicator light will turn on when the temperature drops below 78 degrees.SAFETY SHUT-OFF:1. This heater is equipped with a safety shut-off feature that turns the heating element off if the heater is exposed to air. If the heater accidentally comes out of the water, or if the water level drops below the level of the heater, the heating element will shut-off and “E1” will flash on the display.2. Normal operation will resume when the heater is again submerged completely in water. Be sure to maintain the appropriate water level in the habitat to prevent this from occurring.3. Periodically check to make sure that the suction cups are securely attached to the side or back wall of the habitat to prevent the heater from coming out of the water.
