    • Use Instructions: Zoo Med’s new 18 inch size REPTISUN Terrarium Hood is designed to fit terrariums 20 inches wide and up (10 gallon or larger). This hood can hold one 18 inch REPTISUN or NATURESUN Linear Fluorescent lamp. A built-in reflector allows for deeper penetration of visible light and UVB into your terrarium. UVB is needed by reptiles for the proper growth and maintenance of strong bones. Without UVB (and the appropriate temperatures), your reptile can develop metabolic bone disease which results in soft, rubbery bones within 6 months. Reptiles and amphibians can see things illuminated by UVA lighting that people can’t. UVA is important for the psychological well-being of reptiles and amphibians. Select the appropriate lamp from the following list (lamp sold separately). Be sure that the hood is unplugged when removing or installing the lamp. Install lamp into fixture by inserting pins into lamp holders and rotating the lamp one quarter turn. Place the fixture on top of the terrarium above the screen cover. Fully insert plug into power outlet. Turn fixture on using the on/off switch located on the back of the fixture near the power cord.
